A new emergency hospital with a capacity of 1,000 beds has been completed in Wuhan, China. The hospital was built in 8 days.
Following the outbreak of the Corona Virus, China moved swiftly to construct 2 emergency hospitals in Wuhan curtail the spread of the deadly virus. With the declaration of a global emergency by the World Health Organization, the 269,000-square-foot facility was built to relieve hospitals in central Wuhan of the influx of patients.
According to state media, about 1,400 military medics have been drafted in from the Chinese Army to work in the new hospital, tagged ‘Fire God Mountain’. The hospital has also been handed over to the Chinese army.
The Corona Virus has so far killed about 300 people and infected about 14,000 others. It is thought that the virus originated from a wild animal market in Wuhan.
The second hospital dubbed, ‘Thunder God Mountain’, has a capacity of 1,600 and is set to be opened for activities on Thursday.
Wuhan, which has been under the spotlight since the outbreak of the virus, is a city of about 11 million people.
